Summer, sun and beaches
The most famous is the Blue Flag Grotto beach. South Africa was the first, outside Europe, to win Blue Flag accreditation for some of its beaches. Other family favourites include Voëlklip, Kammabaai, Langbaai, Breakfast Bay, Onrus beach and Sandbaai main beach.
Arts and culture
The Hermanus art scene has something for everyone. From high-end galleries exhibiting investment pieces to street art and sculptures scattered around town. All galleries are known for representing some of South Africa’s best known, world-class artists, paying tribute to those who are established and providing a platform to the up-and-coming artists.

Visiting markets are part and parcel of exploring any destination. This is how you get to know the locals, getting the heart of a place. Hermanus has wonderful markets to explore over weekends. From browsing to buying fresh produce and food for the duration of your stay, or gifts to take back home, there is a market for everyone.

Fitness, sport and spas
Guests can choose from sea kayaking to fishing, diving, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, hiking, paragliding . . . . and so the list goes on. Golfing is also on the list and the fabled 18 hole, Par 72 Arrabella Championship golf course has consistently been ranked in the top 10 courses in South Africa. Hermanus Golf Club is perfectly set on the slopes of the Overberg with breathtaking views of the bay. The course is a spectacular 27 holes.
